For the 2024 Paris Olympics, Légende mag asked me to illustrate a beautiful article by Laurent Gaudé.

No Truce, this is the title of the piece in question. Gaudé talked about the importance of the Olympic truce in the ancient Greek games.

The truce was not only respected for the Olympics, but also for other games. The importance of such events, in fact, brought “the ancient enemies” and the “naked disagreements” to neutral and paused ground. Gaudé also talks about the lack of truce, in normal times, in our world.

My images, linked by this golden yellow color, want to talk about the importance of giving space and attention to certain collective events. In fact, they bring human beings closer together and make them feel one.

Which, unfortunately, happens less and less. Both illustrations obviously draw from the aesthetics of ancient Greek paintings.

In the first image on the top right, I have reworked the concept of Η ιερή εκεχειρία, the sacred truce. 

A winged figure that in my image welcomes athletes and spectators.
